The tongue... It is important. It allows us to communicate with one another. It can produce praise and affirmation. It can bring about love, care, and encouragement. It can be a beneficial tool, but because it is connected to one whose heart is "desperately wicked" (Jeremiah 17:9), it is ALWAYS ready to do something wrong. "But no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison," James 3:8.

People honestly have the power to make or break you. They can tell you nice things, or they can tear down your character. They can share with others how great you are or the great things you've done, or they can gossip by saying what trash they think you are. They can give you a good recommendation, or they can give you a bad one. They can make others like you or despise you.

When people say evil against you, it's hard to come back from that, isn't it? When people hear gossip, they automatically believe it, and their thoughts about said person have been set. How do you change their minds? How do you prove to them that you're not that person or that you've changed? Will they even give you the opportunity to do so?

You may think that there's nothing you can do. You have your scarlet letter from here on out. Why even try anymore? Just give up and settle with whatever life you've got.

Dear friend, is the creation greater than the Creator? Do we negate whatever God has to say, what He has in store? Don't you know that He knew this was going to happen? Don't you know that He has a solution? Don't you know that He has a plan to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11)? Nahum 1:7 says, "The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; He knows those who take refuge in Him." What they said will NOT be the end of you. God is going to use it for His glory, for your benefit, and for a great story to encourage others.

It may seem dark outside right now, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel! God will bring you to it soon, just keep on keeping on!
